About

What is Loremark?

Loremark is a blog about Chinese culture — the kind that doesn’t fit in a textbook.

We tell the stories behind the symbols, festivals, and myths that have shaped Chinese civilization for thousands of years. Not the dry, academic version. The living version — the one where a weaver girl sits at her loom by the Milky Way, where a rabbit lives on the moon, where a crack in a turtle shell became the first written word.

Why “Ancient Stories, Modern Craft”?

Every culture has two layers: the old stories that give it meaning, and the hands that keep making things. Loremark lives where those two layers meet. We dig into the ancient stories — the 2,000-year-old poems, the star myths, the festival origins — and we bring them into the present through design, craft, and modern storytelling.

What You’ll Find Here

  • Cultural Deep-Dives — Long-form explorations of Chinese festivals, mythology, and symbols. What they mean. Where they came from. How they’ve changed over 2,000 years.
  • Design Stories — The “why” behind every product we make. Each design starts with a story, and we tell you that story — from the first sketch to the final print.
  • Festival Guides — Timely articles that help you understand and celebrate Chinese festivals, whether you grew up with them or just discovered them.
  • Mythology & Legends — From the Classic of Mountains and Seas to the Cowherd and Weaver Girl: the stories that have been told and retold for millennia, translated and explained for curious readers.

Our Approach

We believe culture is best understood through stories, not encyclopedias. Every article is written to be felt, not just understood. That’s why we include original Chinese texts alongside English translations — not because you need to read them, but because some things are more beautiful in their original form.

We’re not trying to be Wikipedia. We’re trying to be the friend who knows the good stories and tells them well.

Who’s Behind This

Loremark is built by a small team fascinated by the gap between what the world knows about Chinese culture and what’s actually there. We read the old texts so you don’t have to — and we turn what we find into articles, designs, and products worth keeping.
