Loremark publishes long-form articles about Chinese culture 鈥?mythology, folklore, festivals, literature, and traditional arts 鈥?for a global English-speaking audience. This page states how we research, write, and correct our work.

Sourcing standards

Claims about history, mythology, and classical texts are grounded in identifiable sources: classical texts (cited by chapter where possible), scholarly reference works, museum and academic publications. Where legends have competing versions, we present the main variants side by side rather than picking one as “the” truth. Folklore is described as folklore; we do not present myth as documented history.

Quotations and translations

Chinese classical quotations follow our in-house translation standard: pinyin-based names, established English titles, and public-domain translations (Legge and similar) or our own marked translations (“translation ours”). Short quotations from modern copyrighted translations are kept within fair-use limits.

Use of AI

We use AI tools as drafting and research assistants. Every article is reviewed, fact-checked, and edited by a human before publication; the human editor is responsible for what we publish. We correct errors promptly when identified. We do not use AI to fabricate quotations, sources, or images presented as historical artifacts.

Images

Images are created by us, licensed stock, public-domain artworks, or clearly captioned fair-use reproductions used for commentary. Source and status are noted in captions or alt text.

Cultural tone

We write about living traditions with respect: cultural interpretation, not instruction; description, not exoticism; multiple voices where traditions disagree. We do not publish content that disparages any ethnicity, religion, or region.

Corrections

Errors of fact are corrected in place with the article updated; substantive corrections are noted at the end of the article. Send corrections via the Contact page.

Independence

Articles are chosen by editorial interest and reader demand, not by sponsors. If we ever publish sponsored or affiliate content, it will be labeled clearly at the top of the article.
